SAXONY HAS THE FUTURE IN ITS DNA

The Free State is getting serious with future technologies: It’s economy and science have already teamed up decades ago. That’s why “Mission Saxony 2038” – the Free State of Saxony’s strategy for its future – is not just a vision. Here the future has long begun.

Saxony has once again positioned itself. This time in regards to the mega topic hydrogen: Chemnitz’s ambitious concept of “Hydrogen and Mobility Innovation Center” (HIC) earned the city the status of “National Hydrogen Technology Center”, along with 60 million Euros of federal subsidies. In the near future a huge tech campus will encompass the entire value chain from the fuel cell to the entire vehicle, enabling Saxony to spearhead many industries. More than 25 joint ventures between industry and science have been pushing the “future molecule” H2’s potential, some of them for many years. Both Dresden’s and Chemnitz’s Universities of Technology are on board, as well as two institutes of the Fraunhofer Society, and industry leaders such as BMW or Siemens.
