CAR MAKING HAS A LONG TRADITION IN SAXONY.
Zwickau is the birthplace of the automotive industry in Saxony, thanks to August Horch, known as “the father of Audi”. Today, ten per cent of all cars made in Germany are produced in Saxony. The state is home to major brands such as BMW, Porsche and VW, supported by over 750 suppliers, OEMs and service providers. Research scientists at 50 institutions are already working on the car of tomorrow, focusing on lightweight construction, electromobility and battery technology.
